Abstract: After laying dormant for about half a century, Carroll symmetries recently attracted considerable attention, in part because conformal Carroll symmetries are equivalent to the BMS symmetries found in asymptotically flat spacetimes and thus play a key role in flat space holography. Making Carroll symmetries local yields Carroll gravity, which I shall review. We define Carroll black holes as solutions of Carroll gravity that exhibit Carroll thermal properties and have a Carroll extremal surface, notions explained in my talk. [arXiv:2308.10947]
